We all know David Duchovny as Fox Mulder from The X-Files (and if you don't, you should really treat yourself to at least a few episodes) or Hank Moody from Californication, also highly recommended, however, who would have known that he is also an amazing author? David Duchovny has a variety of fantastic published novels but his newest book, Miss Subways, is one of the most entertaining, dare I say magical, books I have ever read. This book has everything from humor to Irish mythology, I'm not kidding. In an effort not to spoil any of the twists you run into throughout the story, I can tell you that this is about a woman named Emer. She lives a pretty normal life with her boyfriend Con in New York City, until she meets Sid, a little "man" with a strange accent. Basically, things get a little...supernatural. Emer is forced to make ridiculously tough decisions, ultimately controlling her own fate. In Miss Subways, David Duchovny pays homage to his hometown of New York City, and you can just feel the love he has for this amazing city. There could be no other city to fit this story line as perfectly as New York City. The title itself shows respect to the history of the city. Miss Subways was basically a woman of the month advertisement between the 1940s and the 1970s. A picture of a woman was posted on the subways with a description. It sounds simple, but was a fun part of millions of people's commutes every day. You can find a copy of David Duchovny's novel on Amazon. There is even an audiobook version which is narrated by David Duchovny himself. Tea Leoni, his ex wife, narrates Emer. It is an amazing way to hear the story told. No amount of reviews can do this novel justice. Just get out there and read it, you will absolutely understand.
